Objectives
6.1 To provide refined standards to assess carbon, water and nutrient
budgets, and to develop the blueprint of an information system that
combines a database with models and the possibility to run scenarios
for plantations or sequestration ventures.
6.2 To develop a simplified methodology to assess carbon, water and
nutrient budgets from the results of previous studies carried out
in Eucalyptus plantations in the Congo.
6.3 To compare the accuracy of the estimations of carbon, water and
nutrient budgets obtained with the proposed methodology and with
reference methods.
6.4 To run scenarios on commercial Eucalyptus plantation in the Congo
(on a 10,000 ha basis) to estimate the effects of forest management
decisions (rotation length and type of harvest) on carbon sequestration
as well as nutrient content in biomass removed at the harvest.
|
Description of work
Task 6.1 Literature review.
Task 6.2 Assessment of carbon budgets.
